Baby Stuff!

As you know, I am working on a quilt for my niece's baby who is due in July.  Her shower is this Sunday so I will FINALLY be able to show you that finish.  But in the meantime, I am also in charge of making a diaper cake for her shower.

So since my blog title includes CREATING, I thought I would show my creation in progress.  This is kind of the rough draft.  After I got this built, I have decided to make some changes so I'll show you the final result when I get that done.  It turned out to be harder than it looks!  The ribbons are lumpy because of the diapers underneath so I have a plan for that.  The top will be different but just LOVE those teeny, tiny shoes!

Sorry for the yellowish tint to the picture.  I took it with my iPhone and don't have my favorite editing program handy.

So how many of you have made a diaper cake before ?  Would love to see your creations!

Happy CREATING!!

  1. Very lovely! I have made a few diaper cakes but don't have any photos to share. I wrapped receiving blankets around the layers and then added my ribbon on top. Its another way to get more gifts and do-dads on the cake. Enjoy the shower and will be waiting for the quilt reveal!

  2. Never heard of such a thing as a diaper cake. I must lead a sheltered life! Yours is very cute, and I'm looking forward to the baby quilt reveal!

  4. love the diaper cake, have not seen one - so pretty. I see on your side bar you say you work full time and not going to wait until you retire to craft - I think that is a very good idea, I hear too many that say they are collecting fabric and patterns for when they retire and do very little while they work - you need a creative outlet when you work - lessen the stress - if you do not finish a lot that is ok!

  5. Yep, I can comment and the diaper cake is amazing. I've never made one, but my grandson is getting married in August so there is hope. Can't wait to see the baby quilt.

  7. I've seen a few diaper cakes at showers. When I read "lumpy" I had to laugh as diapers aren't usually lumpy until they need changing. Those little shoes are so cute, unfortunately, kids' feet just grow way too fast.
