The instructions will be shared once a month so I figured I'd have plenty of time to work on both. Since I don't have enough of any one fabric to make the larger size, and I'm trying to use up what I already have, I will be making a baby quilt. My colors are not babyish at all so maybe I should rethink this plan. (brief pause to think) Nah, I'm betting there are some mom's out there that like non-traditional colors so I'm going for it!
The dark purplish blue color is the background so it will be the color showing the most. And yes, those stars on the turquoise fabric in option #2 are shiny!
Please vote!
Option 2
OR . . . would you switch them around. Currently the yellow is fabric #4 which will be the one with the least amount. Should I switch it and have more yellow and less of something else? Help me decide! I wanna start cutting!

My vote is option #2. I love the green in the mix. Good idea to try and use up fabrics we already have. Of course, my scrap bins don't seem to be diminishing even tho I make mostly scrap quilts now!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynda! You are a no-reply commenter so I can't reply via e-mail like I usually do. I appreciate your input! Good luck with those scrap bins!
ReplyDeleteWhat Lynda said.... The dark green really balances it all out.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Option 2 and keep the yellow as no 4. The green balances the fabrics and the yellow will give it all a nice pop. Too much and it could overwhelm.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely option #2 for me. Just like it is.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, both are great fabric pulls! I'm kind of leaning toward number 2, but I'm a sucker for shinny things :) You could even make yellow your fabric 2 and the white print your fabric 3. So many choices! Can't wait to see what you land on.
ReplyDeleteI like the green in the mix too, especially because that green is in the flower print. It's going to be so pretty. I'm been going back and forth between lap and baby...but I settled on lap because I tend to give babies toddler sized quilts. So I had to go shopping. I had almost enough background at home ,so I only had to add a bit for it.
ReplyDeleteI think both are so pretty and happy - you can't go wrong with either choice! I love Option 1's colors, but to not use bling would be so sad.... It'll be interesting to see what you choose! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Janice,
ReplyDeleteI love option #2 as well, and agree with you that the yellow should be the one color used the least. I sure do love how the yellow pulls out that in the flower print, as well as the teal/turquoise. This will be so pretty! I can't wait to see how it comes together. You've got plenty of time to get everything cute by June 1st! Don't forget there is a linky party on Tish's 5/4 post, and you can share your final picture on her FB page. I'm so glad you're participating!! Happy Monday! ~smile~ Roseanne
Well goodness. ... I was going back and forth about doing this one and you doing it to gives one more point to the "go for it" side. :) I vote for option 2. I think that teal goes great with the flowers and keeps it light and bright. :) Maybe I'll do my fabric pull tonight.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, I'm really bad at picking fabrics/colors--and especially when I'm not sure what the quilt will look like. I really like both options. I was drawn most to the first one, but then started thinking that maybe # 2 might work better since all of the colors are different. The first might have a lot of white. But I have to say that I don't recall how Tish said these fabrics would touch each other, so you might have to disregard me all together. (What does Tish think?) I love the color scheme, as I'm one of those non-baby quilt colors baby quilt makers. I'm drooling over the flower print.
ReplyDeleteStruggling with pulling fabrics for this QAL? #metoo! I love the teal in the second pull. Love the way you've paired the floral with the yellow!
ReplyDeleteOption 2, for sure. How could you NOT go for sparkly stars?? :)
ReplyDeleteNumber 2--I love the turquoise/teal in there!
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 for me as well!
ReplyDeleteNumber two has my vote. I think the contrast is just perfect. Glad you are sewing along too. I got my pieces cut today.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful, with different tones. To me, number 1 is softer and more balanced, Number 2 is more upbeat. You can't go wrong with either, go with what your mood desires. Both would be great for a baby :)

Number 2 for me - I love stars and a bit of glitter - those colours really look good together :)
ReplyDeleteOption 2 appeals to me the most! I can’t wait to see this underway!
ReplyDeleteI like both options. I like the yellow, but I'm going to propose option #3: substitute the green sparkly stars of option #2 for the yellow in option #1. So glad you are joining this mystery! I'm doing it, too, and have my own fabric dilemma!
ReplyDeleteOption 2!!!! Love your choices.
ReplyDeleteI vote for option 2, I really like the contrast in colors of that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even reading anyone else's comments before I make this. I like the jazzy, metallic stars. I like when I see little fingers touching fabric, and they go to a certain motif and just touch on it. I think the stars will give it that special I-want-to-touch-that factor, and agree wholeheartedly that not every mom likes a baby quilt that screams baby. What did you pick?
