It isn't quite so blinding when you see the whole picture. We just moved into a newly remodeled tiny little farmhouse and this is the view of the front room so far (it needed some color). I should have picked up all the shoes and stuff hanging on the door ready to go out to the car but oh well! Kinda bare right now but it's a work in progress. :) Next project, hang the TV on the wall and figure out a cute way to hide the DVD player, VHS player and cords.
This will be the shortest trunk show ever since I only have five small finishes. Oh for more time in the day! It's kind of ironic that out of my first five finishes, only one of them has lots of bright color. Those of you who have been following me for a while are probably tired of seeing these, but I promise I will have something new to show you in the future. I really enjoyed the quilt along that we did with the Shadow Block Mini and will be organizing another short project like that one of these days.
Quilts 1, 3, and 5 were all made out of the same fabric line. Moda Storybook by Kate & Birdie. I bought a layer cake and divided up the squares by the color ways to make three baby quilts. Two small ones, 3 x 4 10-inch squares in pink and yellow, and a little bit larger one in blue that was 4 x 4 10-inch squares. Here they are:
Here is quilt #2
And quilt #5 (miniature wall hanging)
As you can see, I have yet to finish a LARGE quilt. All small ones. I'm kind of in a motivational rut right now due to trying a finish a larger one. I have decided, I need to stick with small!

Janice, it's great to see your quilts all together like this! These are terrific finishes...ain't nothing wrong with little quilts :) I love the Storybook line, too, so I don't blame you one bit for using it several times.
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me wondering what larger quilt you are working on...I hope I don't have to wait for another trunk show to find out! :)
There's nothing wrong with little quilts. I'm rather leaning to smaller than bigger right now because they're just easier to baste! Somehow, those shoes hint that you might be ready to spring into full bright color in your next project :)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts Janice, nothing wrong with small! I like them too! Hope you get settled in soon!
ReplyDeleteYou have made some lovely quilts! Small is good! I find that small gets finished more often than large, and that's got to be a good thing :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to peek into your trunk. Love the bright colors of your miniature quilt and seeing the blocks float in space! There is a lot to be said about small quilting!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can ever have too much colour! Your quilts are gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteLove that last yellow quilt!!
ReplyDeleteHello Janice, your new rug looks awesome in your lounge. Your quilts are all beautiful and I love them all. xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat precious quilt Janice! Hope you get all settled in soon.
ReplyDeleteThose floating boxes are sooooo cool! Your storybook quilts are adorable.
ReplyDeleteA very lovely trunk show!! Small quilts are really fun to make. The last yellow one is my favourite, great quilting on that one. I love that you love colour so much. You can never have too much :)

Your illusion quilt is magical!
ReplyDeleteSmall projects are great, you feel accomplished in a smaller amount of time-nothing wrong with that. Precious baby quilts and quilt #2 is wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finishes! I really enjoyed your trunk show.
ReplyDeleteSmall quilts are just fine - don't stress. It is about enjoying what you are creating. I hate to make large quilts and do borders (although I do them) - my love is miniatures.
ReplyDeleteUnless you really want a quilt for your bed I don't see any reason to make larger ones. Many people create only small works. It is a choice and as someone who works small (sometimes very small) right now I believe a completely valid and wise one. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't get tired of seeing these quilts. Lots of beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trunk show! You have chosen beautiful colors!
