Welcome to day 2 of Jen and Jan's Mini Blog Hop QAL!
My talented friend Jen Rosin of A Dream and a Stitch designed the mini for this QAL and blog hop and the free pattern for it can be found here.
I have been having so much fun seeing everybody's mini quilts! WOW! Some really creative minds out there!
Well, let's get to it! You've already seen my first mini, but here it is quilted and bound:
I just love these little birdies!
And now . . . presenting . . . Twilight Zone! My friend Kate calls this spooky house. She caught my vision!
As the last time, I had my share of troubles! Even though the serpentine stitch is a basic one, I had never used it before. THIS is what happens when you forget to change to the correct foot and don't raise your feed dogs! I don't know why I kept going, it looked terrible! Needless to say, I ripped all of that out.
Ah, much better!
I really wanted to put a silhouette of someone sewing on their sewing machine in the window with the light still on but ran out of time to get that done. As it is, you'll just have to imagine that is the reason the light is still on upstairs! This mini doesn't have a whole lot of special sewing and I let the fabric do most of the work. I had fun making "night" and "day" minis!
I was sewing on these right up 'til the last minute and now I finally have time to visit everybody and leave comments! Bloggers love those, you know! Please be sure to let them know how much you enjoy their creations!
To thank you for visiting, I am giving away a free Craftsy class to be chosen randomly from all the comments on today's blog. Winner will be chosen March 22. Have fun making the rounds and thanks so much for stopping by!

The way you so cleverly used the fabrics this wonderful mini doesn't need any special gimmicks, it stands up all bt itself. Where can I begin? I love the mini on the washing like, and the way you added the binding too, the sky, oh the sky, wonderful, wherever did you find that fabric. I love the roof and the swirls on the fabric of the door makes me think 'what will I find when I enter the house'. Of course you can't see the quilter in the window, she's a ghost, and she is the one who turns the lights on in the empty rooms too!!! I have loved every version of the quilt I have seen so far, but I think this one just has to be my favourite, it says so much be saying so little, inspired.
ReplyDeleteThose swirls! Love it! Makes me think of the fun house at the circus! All of the versions have been just too cute! Thank you for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteLove your Spooky House! Great sky fabric and quilting!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks great. There are so many cute little houses out in the web from this pattern. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYesssss! I love it. That swirl on the line just draws you in and so much color it shines through the dark night and the wooden house is genius!
ReplyDeleteIndeed I love those little birdies too, perfect choice for your grass fabrics. Your 'spooky' house, gotta love that one!
ReplyDeletenice mini's ! love the brightly colored tiny quilt in the photo and the little bird, the quilting goes perfectly also
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find the birdie fabric?? It's adorable! Love both night and day versions, so cute!!

Oooh! The Twilight Zone...great idea and great fabrics....love it!
ReplyDeleteTwo!! Oh my gosh the little birds in the grass is so perfect! And I love the log cabin quilt! Spooky house is amazing and so much fun! It could be the house of horrors or it could be a carnival fun house! Either way, both are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove your cute fabrics! So many talented quilters! Thank you, Susan
ReplyDeleteI am having such fun jumping around to see the teeny quilts hanging on the lines in this hop! There are many creatives out there and the block is adorable! I'm hoping to make one soon.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Zone...Love it! It is indeed so spooky. I love the swirls throughout the block. You found such fun fabrics for this! I haven't tried that stitch either and I should. I realized this block would have been perfect to try all the fancy stitches on my new machine, and I didn't use a single one. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Janice for the lovely hop! I had fun. Both minis are so cute, but I'm really diggin' the spooky one! That sky fabric is divine! Perfect for this.
ReplyDeleteJanice, is that ever the coolest thing?!!! I loved your very first one with the sweet fabrics, and especially the pink polka dot roof! But the second one - oh my goodness! What fun! The swirl themed fabric is just great! And I love the windows where just one light is on. So creative! Thanks for inviting me to join in the QAL. I really enjoyed making mine, and have loved the blog hop seeing what evetyone has done, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for organizing this fun Hop! It's great to see all the variety in our minis! Already looking forward to the next one.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so stinking cute!!

So fun to see two different versions! Love the little mini's and the spooky house is so fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the spooky house. It's been fun, the last two days, checking out all the amazing minis. So much talent!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the swirly fabric you used in your nighttime quilt. It is so fun!
ReplyDeleteTwilight Zone is a perfect title! Congrats on two finishes! Thanks again for hosting
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Twilight Zone. Especially that vortex quilt on the line.
ReplyDeleteThese houses and quilts are all delightful! Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun! I love both your versions, especially the spooky one! The quilt in that one is too cool!
ReplyDeleteThe nighttime house is just spooktacular! I'm loving all these little houses and the choices the participants made for their quilts on the line. Thanks for the eye candy.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Zone is really cute. I have enjoyed visiting on this hop and thanks for the pattern of the mini.
ReplyDeleteClever spooky look. I love seeing all of the different interpretations. Thanks for the fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the spooky version! I think the block has potential for a lot of looks. Reminds me of elementary school when we all had to draw a house with a yard for art class. Same house, and many styles, but always fun to see what your desk partner did to theirs. This was fun!
ReplyDeleteI adore your spooky house version! The quilting in the sky area really adds to the atmosphere. I can just feel the wind swirling around and the clouds scudding through the night sky. I like your idea of a silouette in the lit window, but I would make it somewhat ambiguous to go along with the feeling of the rest of the quilt. At first, I was picturing making different mini minis to add to the house, but this spooky house got me picturing all of the different ways a single house could make it through the year, holidays, special occasions, seasons -- all lending themselves to possible interpolations, as well as the different potentials with the mini mini quilts! A great job by you and everyone who participated.
ReplyDeletethese are both wonderful. I love the birdie/grass fabric.
ReplyDeleteoh I love your grass fabric with the birdies!
ReplyDeleteWell, now, you just demonstrated the broad range these quilt blocks can have!! I love the idea of a nighttime house with the light on where the quilter is up way past bedtime. Well, of course!! That swirled fabric for the mini mini is such a cool find! Great blog hop!!
ReplyDeleteLoooove both your quilts!! So cool how you did the quilts on the lines too! Sooo creative..the houses, yard..Everything about em!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for chance to win your Give-a-way too! :D
love the spooky house. You've inspired me to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteHaha, it hard to believe that the same person made both houses! You have such different tastes. Thank you to both you and Jen for the pattern and the Blog Hop. I had a fabulous time making my mini. It came together much faster than I expected. Love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteI love both blocks you made. Good luck everyone in the giveaway. angielovesgary2 atgmail dotcom

Spooky is my pick, from the swirly quilt on the line, the pink door, a crescent moon in a night sky, and one window lit up. just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWell from the psychedelic window to door and moon under the scudding clouds this night version is my favourite of your two! Love the Day and Night idea. Terrific pattern and hop!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's the little touches--like the birds in the grass--that are the most memorable. Thanks for sharing, and for inspiring me to examine my stash with bright new eyes.
