Happy Mail!

As you may or may not know, I got kind of crazy and joined 3 Bees this year.  The whole point of these Bee's is to use fabric from our stash's to create blocks for the other members of our hive when it is their turn. This month, it is my turn to be Queen Bee in one of the hives and this is the block that I chose to have made for me.  I asked for it in bright colors.

I've been fiddling around and made a few of my own.  Here is the first version:

And here is the second one that I made.  I thought the colors would be a lot of fun when I chose them but when I got the block sewed together it reminded me of a scary clown!!  Ewww!

I may be switching out the middle block for a different color but I'll withhold judgement until I see how it looks  with all the other blocks.

I have received what's known in the biz as Happy Mail!  Mail that has something fabricky or quilting related.  This particular piece of happy mail came from a fellow Bee member from the Bee Hive Swarms 2017 bunch!  Not just one block, but THREE!!  Yahoo!  There was a really neat card (I want some of these)

And some yummy Jelly Belly's!  Some pretty great Happy Mail, I'd say!  A
And yes, it is true.  I have not taken my Christmas decorations down yet!  Maybe tomorrow.  :)

Here are all the Double Star blocks that I have so far . . .

That's all for now.  I have already been informed that I don't have to go into work tomorrow due to the heavy snowfall.  We have had more snow in the last 24 hours than we have had for more than 30 years!  Crazy!

  2. I have not taken down my decorations either, usually they are down on New Year's Day. I like your other blocks, your first one goes really well with them. The 'scary' one might just blend in with the others you will receive. Will be fun to see them all together. So how much snow did you get?

  3. That's a great block. Happy mail is awesome! Please keep the snow in your neck of the woods. We've only had rain here, but apparently, there's snow coming tomorrow and over the weekend. Sigh......

  5. Hi Queen Bee Janice! I do love your block, especially the first one in black and grays. It reminds me of winter here in the Midwest where there is very little color outside on a snow-covered day. I like that contrast! I clicked on your "About Me" page to see where you lived, but it tells me that my account "does not have access to view this page". Enjoy your snow day!

  8. I'm looking forward to seeing your quilt grow! The card was from....are you ready....tractor supply! A whole box of mixed "farm" cards, but I loved that one since it had a barn quilt. Have fun with the snow day!!!

  10. This should be a great quilt once it's done. The blocks are all working well together so far, even the scary clown one. Interesting the way the blue block has a different effect to the others.

  11. Aw, I kinda like the clown block! But you know I like 'em luridly bright :)

It's a neat star block, with so many ways to gussy it up in different color combinations. I'm looking forward to seeing what your bee mates send in!

  13. Great blocks, although I agree about the scary clown block, it is great, but something about it reminds me of clowns.
