If you are worried about 'pokies' showing through though then match it to the top thread, which makes for a pretty interesting backing. LOVE the finished scrap quilt too! I think the lavender backing for it is perfection. :-) Thanks for linking up with DrEAMi!Sandra Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17737049269550479188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7667429570761867646.post-50958288630181665362018-04-03T10:33:53.428-06:002018-04-03T10:33:53.428-06:00You finished the 1980's quilt! I feel something in the each of the sections, but I don't know what. What about a variegated thread and then you don't have to change colours.Anja @ Anja Quiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10717143609774358153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7667429570761867646.post-1176399177335313762018-04-02T18:30:33.334-06:002018-04-02T18:30:33.334-06:00Ooh, periwinkle on the back would be so pretty. I do like seeing color matched thread in other people’s quilts, but I tend to stick to neutrals partly because I would inevitably forget to change threads, but also because I sometimes have a hard time seeing threads against the fabric. Maybe audition some options until you go “Ooh!” JanineMariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13475847392355523001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7667429570761867646.post-46478457540278068592018-04-02T18:26:09.676-06:002018-04-02T18:26:09.676-06:00I would go with a neutral for the bobbin thread. T...I would go with a neutral for the bobbin thread. That way you don't have to keep changing the bobbin when you do all your different motifs. That's going to look cool! Periwinkle could be considered a neutral in this case because of how well it will blend into the background. I think the key is for the bobbin color to not be too different from each of the top threads. So cream, although truly neutral, might be too light with a dark orange. Periwinkle is medium :)Louisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06306854459459257368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7667429570761867646.post-18617925079599194682018-04-02T18:25:52.059-06:002018-04-02T18:25:52.059-06:00My only suggestion is to be mindful of the under/o...My only suggestion is to be mindful of the under/overs so the quilting doesn't detract from the piecing colleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13979234789965049533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7667429570761867646.post-45165262913785158722018-04-02T18:15:00.647-06:002018-04-02T18:15:00.647-06:00Another vote for periwinkle thread! But if you are custom quilting each lattice I would probably use an orange, blue and neutral to match the strips. Just remember your darkest lattice might not show the quilting much, but those orange ones it will stand out nicely! Also if you run out of ideas for the quilting, search pinterest for some.
